The Audience for College Level Writing Needs and Expectations

An audience is a group of spectators or listeners. When the audience reads, for example, an essay title, they create sort of an idea of what’s going to happen and ask themselves how it’s going to happen. That’s what we call expectations, believing that someone will or should achieve something. Nowadays, the audience for college level writing has many needs and expectations, which the writer needs to find a way to fulfill.
First of all, before starting to write an essay, the writer should think and analyze about what does the audience really wants. Then, to fulfill the audience’s needs and expectations, the writer needs to know to whom he/she is going to write. The audience for college level writing, most of the time, is the professor; but, sometimes, their peers can be included in the audience.
In my opinion, the audience wants to hear about innovating and interesting topics. But, if you are going to write about things people already know, then what is the point of writing it all over again if we already know? People want to learn and explore new subjects, because that’s the point of reading! Somehow, the writer must catch the reader’s attention and wake in them a sense of curiosity by creating a little suspense, starting from a general idea to a specific point.
